Speak Yourself

In 2017, global pop phenomenon BTS joined UNICEF in launching the Love Myself campaign for children and teens affected by violence, raising awareness, funds, and inviting young people to share their thoughts with the #OnMyMind hashtag.

The following year, the seven members of BTS appeared before the U.N. General Assembly and leader Kim Namjoon delivered an address encouraging youth across the globe to not only Love Yourself, but to Speak Yourself.

In his brief remarks, he shared his own story, speaking to the fear we have all had of not being enough. He also spoke of the responsibility to claim one’s voice.

“Tell me your story. I want to hear your voice, and I want to hear your conviction. No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, gender identity: speak yourself…. Find your voice by speaking yourself.” — Kim Namjoon of BTS
